Mainstream parties grieved over loss of lives in Mughal road accident

Srinagar: Mainstream parties in Kashmir expressed grief and sorrow over a tragic accident on Mughal road near Peer Ki Gali in Shopian district resulting into the death of at least 11 persons.
At least eleven students including nine girls were killed and seven others injured after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled into a deep gorge near Peer Ki Gali on Mughal road in Shopian.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident.
The duo in their message prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength to the grief stricken families to bear the inconsolable loss. They also urged the divisional administration of Jammu to give best of medical treatment to the injured.
Party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Aijaz Jan, Javed Rana also expressed grief over the incident. The leaders have also urged the administration to ascertain the causes of the accident.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti alos expressed grief over the loss of lives in the tragic road accident.
The PDP President conveyed her sympathy to the families of the deceased passengers.
Mehbooba expressed serious concern over the recurring road accidents in the mountainous regions of the state and demanded that the government must review the causes of the recurring fatal accidents and take measures to save the precious lives on priority.
She urged the administration to provide best medical treatment to the injured in the accident and wished speedy recovery to them.
President of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), Dr Shah Faesal alos expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic traffic accident on Mughal road.
In a statement, Faesal conveyed his sympathies with the bereaved families.
He urged the government to provide ex-gratia relief to the bereaved families.
Faesal has expressed his dismay over the government’s failure to check growing incidents of road accidents in various areas of the state especially in Chenab valley and Peer Panchal region.
He called for a special campaign for improving the road infrastructure and strengthening the traffic regulatory network.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G A Mir too expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident.
In a statement, Mir conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to departed souls.
He described the accident as highly unfortunate and painful.
Mir also expressed disappointment over the frequent accidents, which have been resulting into loss of many lives of late.
He urged the authorities to take effective measures to ensure safety of people while travelling in hilly and plain areas in the state.
Expressing shock and grief over the fatal road accident, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
Tarigami demanded ex-gratia relief for the victim families and free of cost treatment to those injured in the accident.
Chairman PDF Hakeem Yaseen also expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic road accident and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.
Yaseen castigated traffic police for its failure to check traffic accidents in various parts of the state.
He said concerned officers of the traffic police should be brought to book for laxity in their duty.
Yaseen said that hardly any day passes when there is no report of a traffic accident on National Highways of Jammu, Chenab valley and Peer Panchal.
He said the dilapidated condition of roads was another cause of day to day road accidents.
Yaseen ridiculed the administration for its failure to macadamize roads in various areas of the state after the recent winter. He said commuters as well as vehicle drivers are facing tremendous hardships due to bad condition of roads.
AIP chief, Er Rasheed also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the tragic accident on Mughal road.
