Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Tuesday expressed concern over the “deteriorating health condition” of detained chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in Tihar Jail, Delhi.
Spokesman JKLF, Muhammad Rafiq Dar said in a statement that Malik was suffering from an acute infection in one of his eyes for the last two weeks.
He condemned the jail authorities for its “negligence” due to which Malik’s health “is going down day by day”.
According to the spokesman, Malik was “not being provided with appropriate medical facilities in the jail which is his due right”.
He also warned the government of India of “dire consequences if this ill-treatment continues”.
“JKLF has the capacity to launch a political campaign all over the world against India for its repressive policies in Jammu Kashmir,” he added.
The spokesman said that the ill health condition of Yasin Malik had been a “severe cause of concern for not only his family members but for party cadres and the millions of people of the state”.
Dar appealed international and local human rights organizations including UNHRC, Amnesty International, Asia Watch and others to take notice of Malik’s health condition and impress upon authorities to provide the basic human rights of a politically jailed leader.
