‘Back to Village’ campaign in full swing across South Kashmir districts

SRINAGAR: The third phase of the ‘Back to Village’ programme commenced across the South Kashmir districts of Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian and Anantnag wherein designated officers reached out to people in their panchayat halqas under the ambitious initiative of the government to address people’s grievances and ensuring good governance at the grassroots.
In Kulgam, 55 Panchayat halqas were covered during which people were seen providing feedback to the visiting officers to ensure effective implementation of developmental schemes and highlight their issues and grievances.
The visiting officers held scores of Gram Sabhas and informed people about the centrally sponsored and state-run schemes for the welfare of the general public.
The programme was held in several Panchayat Halqas of Mirhama, Modergam, Udoora, Gadihama, Pariwan, Nillow, Lakhdpora, Nehama, Largoo, Hatipora Hadigam, Behilbah, Matibugh, Kadder, Turigam, Munadguffn, Tatraypora, Batpora, Sempora, Daderkoot, Kuthbrari, Shinganpora, Hanjan, Beehbrade, Kujjar, Widow Mishipora, Nigeenpora, Lanker Pombay, Dardgund, Mattilbugh, Parigam, Turigam, Hanjan, and other villages.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani said the administration was taking every possible step to ensure that the programme is held in a hassle-free manner.
He said that the programme has brought additional vibrancy in the working of the administration at all levels—facilitating interaction between people of district and the civil administration.
In Pulwama, the day marked conduct of Gram Sabhas and awareness camps besides field inspections by visiting officers in the district under the ambitious outreach programme.
Designated officers visited different halqas of the district to assess the developmental demands of people for socio-economic transformation of rural areas.
Director General Planning Shahzada Bilal visited Kunibal area of Pampore to take a first-hand appraisal of grievances of the general public. He took stock of RDD works, besides Aganwadi centres and schools.
He asked the locals to project their demands and rate different Departments according to their performance so that necessary steps are taken to ensure holistic development in the village.
Similarly, Director Tourism, Kashmir, Nisar Ahmed Wani visited Ratnipora Village of the district to take stock of development scenario there. He was accompanied by line officers of different Departments. Wani visited the sites of ongoing projects in the village.
He also inaugurated footbridge in Peerpora Ratnipora besides flood protection bund in Zamindar Mohalla.
Director Rural Development Department Qazi Sarwar also visited Meeg village to take stock of developmental works there.
On the occasion, locals raised demands regarding drinking water supply, power transmission and timely release of old-age and widow pension for the beneficiaries in the village.
ADC Tral Shabir Ahmed Raina visited different halqas of Tral to take stock of functioning of the Anagwandi centres, mid day meal scheme and developmental works in the areas.
During the visit, people projected various demands like upgradation of health infra, veterinary centres besides strengthening Irrigation, PDD and PHE infrastructure in these villages.
Similar functions were also held in 29 designated halqas including Amlar, Padgampora, Lalpora, Bargam, Machama, Malangpora, Koil, Trichal, Bbunera, Pahoo, Ratnipora, Mitriham, Kangan, Arigam area of the district where people participated in large numbers. In Shopian, on the fifth day of the outreach programme, designated gazetted officers today conducted Gram Sabhas and interaction programmes in 32 Panchayat Halqas of the district.
Dr Hafiz Shah, Director Floricultural, visiting officer Panchayat Halqa Heerpora conducted interaction programme in which a large number of people participated.
Meanwhile, in Aglar Litter, Visiting Officer, Director Finance Reyaz Ahmad interacted with the people at the Panchayat to listen to their issues and demands.
On the occasion, people raised several issues being faced by them like construction of roads, drinking water supply, electricity supply, repair of damaged transformers, irrigation facilities and other issues related to the development of their concerned areas.
In other halqas of the district, the visiting officers inspected various ongoing works and also visited education institutions, healthcare centres, Anganwadi centres and other offices.
They also interacted with the people who apprised them about various problems being confronted by them regarding completion of developmental works, link roads, availability of horticulture and agricultural allied facilities, public parks, playgrounds, soil testing labs and other public infrastructure in the villages.
In Anantnag, Gram Sabhas and public interaction programmes were held in 134 Halqas of Anantnag of district.
Special Secretary to Chief Secretary Arshid Ayoub visited Kadpora village and interacted with the people to assess their developmental aspirations and listen to their issues and demands.
On the occasion, people raised various issues regarding irrigation facilities, water supply, power supply, roads, health, and education.
Director General Budgets, Mohammad Yaqoob Itoo and Director Finance, Disaster Management Relief & Rehabilitation, Zahoor Ahmad Wani visited Halqa Munghal of Block Anantnag and Halqa Akad of block K – Pora respectively.
They interacted with people and heard their demands and grievances with regard to development of the basic infra structure including roads connectivity, water, power, ration, construction of playfields, replacement of damaged electric poles and proper implementation of all the centrally and state-sponsored schemes.
During the day-long activities, visiting officers went to their respective Halqas and interacted with the public, PRI members, civil society members, prominent citizens, members of Auqaf Committees, Students and other concerned.
They listened to the grievances of the people and took their feedback with regard to the overall development of the rural areas.
