Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Saturday welcomed the restoration of seniority and transfers in Health Department.
In a communiqué, President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik said that the decision was worth appreciating.
Dr Naik thanked Financial Commissioner Health, Jammu and Kashmir for initiating “comprehensive reformative upgradation and cleaning up the vital health department from nepotism, favouritism and out of turn promotions”.
“Parachuting of some junior doctors who were having politico bureaucratic clout to administrator posts was a demoralizing situation for senior doctors and therefore their demotion to respective slots was dire need of hour to restore the pristine glory of sacrosanct profession,” the DAK said.
General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar said that such health reforms were of utmost important to run the system with dignity. He however said that there was still a huge grey area where concrete corrective measures are to taken to make this system vibrant and dynamic.
“There are still large number of junior administrators who have been left out and have not been touched,” Dr Owais added.
DAK demanded that the administrators, who have been “illegally promoted should be demoted back to their original position and slot and merit”.
“The credibility and seniority should be given due consideration as per established recruitment rules,” it said.
DAK expressed gratitude to Advisor Health for initiating the process and hoped that the process of “clean up will continue further which will go a long way in addressing the demands of aggrieved senior doctors besides restoring the discipline and seniority in the health department of J&K state”.
