Tral: A recently “upgraded” High School in Machama area of Tral belt in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district having an enrolment of around 200 students is working in three rooms much to the inconvenience of the students.
Locals said that school lacked also lacked in rest of the infrastructure as well.
The school, they said, has only one bathroom available for the students due to which they face inconvenience. Besides, the school also lacked fencing, they said.
The authorities did not pay any attention towards the school, the locals alleged.
“This school is having good roll as compared to other schools, however due to unavailability of class rooms three to four classes are crammed in one room,” a teacher posted at the school told Kashmir Vision.
A student complained that due to noise in the classrooms, they were not able to understand the lessons properly.
“Even teachers sometimes fail to concentrate on lectures due to jumbling in classrooms,” a student said.
With the school having no fencing, locals said there always remains a threat of attack of wild animals on students given the proximity of the area to the nearby forests.
Locals as well as students demanded immediate intervention of concerned authorities to mitigate the problems of poor students in the said school.
Chief Education Officer Pulwama Naseem ul Gani said that the school had been upgraded recently and will get a new building soon.
“All other problems faced by students will be redressed on priority basis,” he added.
