SMC holds cleanliness event

Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation in collaboration with Envosaviours-an IEC partner with support from PMSU and other IEC partners Tuesday organised a program with school students at Lal Bazar.
The event was part of ‘Vishesh Swachta Abiyan’, a fifteen day long awareness campaign launched by SMC from June June13-28.
Joint Commissioner Administration SMC, Syed Abdul Qasim who was accompanied by senior officers of the Corporation including Chief Sanitation officer, Syed Nisar and Concerned Corporator of the area were preset on the occasion.
Qasim interacted with the students with the aim to sensitise student community about their role in educating people on various issues related to sanitation and waste management.
Students of various schools including Lal Public High School, Green Woods Public School and Government High School participated in the event..
After conducting several rounds of seminars, painting competitions and singing, the event was followed by a rally organised by students, teachers and SMC officials focusing on source segregation and environment preservation.
Envosaviours Director, Rangrez Shahid on the occasion requested students to help in preserving environment by practicing best practices on Solid Waste Management like Segregating waste at source and keep away from littering and to take the message of sanitation forward by discussing it with parents and friends.
