Three cattle thieves arrested, stolen animals recovered

Srinagar: Police on Thursday arrested three cattle thieves “red handed” from Srinagar outskirts and recovered stolen animals from their possession.
After several complaints of cattle theft from locals, Police Station Nigeen had set up a special team to nab the thieves.
A police statement said that one of the thieves “was caught red handed while rustling cattle from Habak area”.
“Subsequently, he was arrested and later two more thieves were also arrested,” it added
The trio has been identified by police as Huzair Ahmad Khanday, son of Akbar Khanday, Asif Ahmad Khanday, son of Jalal-u-din Khanday both residents of of Nowbugh Gulab Bagh Ganderbal and Ali Mohamed Wani son of late Ghulam Ahmad Wani, a resident Guzarbal Ganderbal.
After learning of their involvement in cattle thefts from the areas of Zakura, Nigeen and Soura, the statement said, stolen cattle were recovered from them by the police.
More arrests and recoveries are expected, the police said.
An FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen.
