Militant killed in Sopore gunfight buried in Sheeri: Police
Internet, class work remain suspended in Sopore
Sopore: An unidentified militant, who was killed in a gunfight a day before with government forces was buried Wednesday with the help of local Auqaf committee at Sheeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The militant was killed on Tuesday evening in a gunfight with government forces in Wadoora Payeen village of Sopore.
SSP Sopore Javeed Iqbal said that the body of the slain militant was buried at Sheeri Baramulla “as no family came forward to identify him”.
“In case any family will claim that the slain is their kin, legal formalities will be followed,” SSP said.
Earlier on Tuesday morning contingents of Army 22 RR, SOG Sopore, 177, 179 and 92 battalions of CRPF cordon off Wadoora Payeen village following the inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Amid day-long siege, the forces intensified the searches, militants hiding in the area opened fire, leading to a gunfight in which one unidentified militant was killed.
Authorities have snapped internet services in police district Sopore.
The class work in all the government and private educational institutions in Subdivision Sopore also remained suspend on Wednesday.
