Baramulla: Hailstorm, heavy rains and strong wind in areas of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday caused extensive damage to crops, apple orchards, walnut trees and vegetable fields.
Reports said that parts of Baramulla including Sopore, Rafiabad, Sangrama, Pattan, Tangmarg, Zaingeer and Kreeri on Wednesday witnessed heavy rains following strong hailstorm resulting into heavy loss to farmers and fruit growers of district Baramulla.
The areas which were affected most due to hailstorm include Kreeri, Thindim, Watergam, Hail, Saloosa and other surrounding areas.
Meanwhile heavy rains since Tuesday evening have also caused water logging in most of the localities as well as on roads of the north Kashmir district causing hardships to commuters and transporters.
Farmers have urged district administration to depute teams to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and hailstorm.
They said it was the sixth time that hailstorm had damaged crops in the area.
