Leh-Manali highway opens for traffic
Leh: The Border Road organization today opened the Leh- Manali Road for vehicular traffic after remaining blocked for over six months due to heavy snow accumulation .
Chief Engineer Project Himank, Brig Nitin K Sharma said that it serves as a life line for the people of Ladakh.
Chief Engineer said that the BRO personnel worked with strenuous efforts to reopen the road.
“Despite Sub-zero temperature, high altitude and threat of avalanches our jawans faced unprecedented hardships in the snow clearance operation in the sector to ensure the early reopening of the strategic road. The weather have played spoil sport in the snow clearance.” Chief Engineer added .
The large number of tourist prefer the picturesque landscape to visit Leh from Manali by road .
