DC Kupwara reviews felling of female Russian poplars

KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg Tuesday convened a meeting of officers to review the pace and progress of felling of female Russian Popular trees in the district.
Threadbare discussion held in the meeting with regard to the felling of female Russian Popular trees across the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and Handwara, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM Lolab and Karnah, DFO Social Forestry Kupwara, Tehsildars and other concerned.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that the trees which have been rooted off should be dumped at suitable places.
DC said that the fair auction shall be conducted for the trees found in the premises of government offices and the money shall be used for repairing and renovation of the office.
DC directed the concerned for expediting the identification of Russian Popular trees in Kascharie and state-land. He also said that CEO shall ensure the felling of Russian Popular trees in premises of government institutions and schools.
DC also said that the constituted committee will ensure the Russian Popular trees identified in paddy field or at any other place where the risk of impairing is high should be rooted off by the team of professionals.
