Srinagar: Hasnain Masoodi, JKNC’s Member of Parliament, South Kashmir has demanded construction of left out part of Pulwama circular road from Gongo to Gudoora and to DPL Pulwama.
He demanded construction of the project “on priority so that Pulwama is saved from frequent and frustrating traffic jams”.
Masoodi has also demanded construction of flyover at Muran Chowk, the most congested part of the town.
He was addressing the party workers at Mujahid Manzil, Party Headquarter at Pulwama.
Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri, former MLA and Constituency In-charge, Pulwama also addressed the gathering. Party leaders, Ghulam Nabi Nilora and Abdul Aziz Mir were among the senior leaders present on the occasion.
Masoodi expressed deep anguish over frequent arrests made in Pulwama and other parts of the district. He reminded the Administration that “arrests and detentions add to alienation and resentment and do not serve any purpose except swelling the ranks of dissatisfied youth”.
He also took exception to “denial of access to justice to victims of atrocities”.
Masoodi pointed out that “restricting powers to deal with NIA matters to a single court at Jammu and the matters under Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act practically denies access to justice to thousands of youth arrested or facing criminal charges across the State”.
He said it was “near impossible for justice seekers to travel all the way to Jammu or to Srinagar and thereby justice is in reality denied to the youth most entitled to its expeditious dispensation”.
Masoodi demanded “immediate revocation of notifications stripping regular courts of jurisdiction to deal with such matters and restoration of powers to such courts so that the victims have not to travel from far flung areas to Srinagar and Jammu”.
He also asked the PDD Authorities to release unpaid dues of the contractors engaged in implementation of Rural Electrification Program.
Masoodi impressed upon the District Hospital Administration Pulwama to avoid providing facilities in a “partisan manner and dispel impression that healthcare facilities at the Hospital are provided selectively and made available on ulterior consideration”.
