Brief exchange of fire between militants, forces in Verinag village
Srinagar: Brief exchange of firing took place between militants and government forces in Nowgam, area of Verinag of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning.
Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team Army’s 19RR and SOG launched a cordon and search operation in Nowgam.
A senior police officer told GNS that forces laid siege around suspected spot after having credible inputs about of presence of some militants.
The officer further said that there was brief exchange of firing between militants and forces. However right now there is no exchange firing from both sides but we have strengthened cordoned in the area and searches are going, the officer said.(GNS)
