Tarigami’s native village ‘vandalized’ by govt forces
Kulgam: Massive protests and clashes erupted in Tarigam village of Kulgam here in South Kashmir, after the Government Forces detained dozens of youth during nocturnal raids.
Locals alleged that army soldiers mercilessly stoned a calf to death after the clashes.
The native village of former legislator Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has virtually turned into a battle ground after the detention of over dozens of youth during nocturnal raids. Locals are claiming that soldiers have crossed all the limits of oppression.
The trouble started when Government Forces raided the local Primary Health Centre (PHC) after receiving inputs about the presence of an injured militant there. According to locals it has become a routine for the soldiers from 1st, 9th and 34th Rashtriya Rifles to conduct raids of the PHC on one or the other pretext.
During the cordon and search operation, some local youth pelted stones while army according to locals retaliated in a violent way damaging houses and vehicles randomly.
Locals said that soldiers “looted the merchandize of shopkeepers and damaged their shutters”.
“They broke windows and doors and vehicles,” they said.
Some of the vehicles also were completely damaged by the soldiers while the houses of Hial Ahmed, Bilal Yousuf and Tawseef-ul-Islam were massively vandalized.
Local said that on Tuesday night, Forces picked up several youth. (CNS)
