Srinagar: Separatist leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and mainstream parties have Tuesday greeted people on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Jammu Kashmir Muttaheda Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) chief and Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq extended Eid greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah and the Muslims worldwide caught in strife.
In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said if the message of Eid-ul-Fitr was followed in letter and spirit, it would help the entire world blossom and that in reality only those people deserved to be felicitated who tried to follow the message of holy Quran and fulfill their duties during the month of Ramadan.
Mirwaiz ssaid the Islamic world including Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Kashmiri Muslims were “caught in a quagmire with innocent people being killed in bloodshed”.
“The message of Eid on this occasion for the Muslim Ummah should collectively stand in unity against the anti-Islamic and oppressive forces to foil their nefarious designs,” he added.
The APHC Chairman prayed to the Almighty Allah to make the situation in these places conducive and help Muslims reach the heights and earn everyone’s respect.
He also paid tributes to the Hurriyat leaders and “freedom-loving people of Kashmir, who have been held in various jails and detention centres in Jammu Kashmir and outside for their resolve and steadfastness toward the resistance movement, he prayed for their good health”.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday also extended warm greeting to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid- Ul-Fitr.
In his message on the occasion, Farooq hoped that the Eid u Fitr will be the harbinger of peace, progress, prosperity and happiness and would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity in our state.
“On the auspicious occasion of Eid Ul Fitr, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to people. May this Eid bring happiness and god’s endless blessings to us, I wish Eid Mubarak to all,” he said in his message.
Party vice president, Omar Abdullah while greeting the people said, “The spirit behind the observance of Eid Ul Fitr, which marks the end of month-long fasting, is to express our thanks to Almighty Allah for giving us courage to observe fast in the month of Ramazan and rededicate ourselves to truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, and patience showing complete obedience to Allah. Eid also embeds the message of taking care of the needy and making them part of the happiness by extending financial support to them. I wish Eid Mubarak to all.”
Extending his greetings of Eid-ul-Fitr to the people, Peoples Conference (PC) chairman and former minister, Sajad Gani Lone on Tuesday prayed for the peace and tranquility of the State.
Lone in a statement issued here said that the government should ensure all requisite arrangements are put in place for smooth conduct of the festival.
He also wished the people peace, progress, prosperity and happiness and hoped that this occasion would be a harbinger of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity.
CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami also extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr.
Wishing a happy and prosperous Eid, Tarigami said he hopes this festival of joy and happiness will usher peace and prosperity to the people of Jammu and Kashmir state.
“May this festival strengthen mutual goodwill and inspire each one of us to follow the path of love, friendship, harmony and peace in the state,” he said in his Eid message.
In his message, PDP Vice President, Abdul Rahman Veeri also felicitated the people of State on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Veeri wished for peace, progress, prosperity and happiness and hoped that this occasion would be a harbinger of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity.
PDP General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura in his Eid message said that Eid was an occasion to rededicate ourselves to the teachings of Islam and preaching’s of Prophet (Peace be upon him).
Hanjura also appealed to the people to observe austerity and extend help to the poor and needy on Eid.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G A Mir alos greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Eid Ul Fitr and prayed for wellbeing of the people.
In his message Mir said that the festival of Eid is a unique and special occasion leading the mankind at the path of peace, harmony and truthfulness.
Eid Ul Fitr, Mir said, is reward from Almighty to people especially those who observe fast in the holy month to seek mercy and forgiveness from Him.
“Let the occasion usher in an era of complete peace and inclusive development of JK State, praying for well being of the people,” he added.
Among those who extended their greetings on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr were former minister, Altaf Bukhari, PDF chief, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, ANC President, Khalida Shah and JK DPN President, G H Mir.
