Er Rasheed appeals masses to make the event a success

Srinagar: Appealing people to cut across political affiliations to participate in the eighth state Flag Day function at Srinagar on June, AIP President Er Rasheed has said that people of entire state need to be united to fight for their legitimate political rights.
Rasheed asked people to ensure that “sanctity of the state flag as guaranteed by constitution is restored and maintained”.
In a statement issued Monday Rasheed said it is matter of satisfaction that AIP has been trying to “create awareness among masses about the significance and importance of state Flag”.
He said that the party has been celebrating state Flag Day every year from the day party came into existence.
“But need of the hour is that other political parties including both separatist and mainstream organizations must understand the significance of state Flag and should become part of the function to be organized in Srinagar on 7th June,” he said.
“Everybody has been talking about protecting article 370 & 35A and making state Flag Day a success will reiterate the will of masses that people of J&K will not allow anyone to fizzle with the special status of J&K and they will protect whatsoever constitutional guarantees they have within Indian and J&K constitution,” Rasheed added.
He appealed masses, political parties and civil society to join the event “so that a message is sent louder and clear that people of the state are united to protect the special status and any attempt to dilute article 35A, 370 or any such other provision is not acceptable ad will be resisted tooth and nail”.
