JAMMU: National Conference Women Wing State Vice President, Bimla Luthra on Thursday called for greater involvement of women and weaker sections in decision making, saying this is imperative for harmonious growth of the society.
Addressing workers at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here on Thursday afternoon, Luthra said that National Conference has “all along worked for empowerment and emancipation of these segments of the society and will continue to do so with a sense of commitment”.
She said that National Conference had “always remained in the forefront to ensure social justice and welfare of marginalized segments of the society”.
Referring to the Land Reforms Act brought by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, she said this benefitted the weaker sections of society—the peasants, the backward classes, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe—the most.
She said National Conference “reflects the urges and aspirations of the marginalized segments of the State”.
Luthra urged the workers to work for strengthening the party at grass roots level and promote its cherished agenda of inclusiveness and regional unity.
Several NC women workers were present on the occasion.
