Police conducts market checking
Srinagar: Police parties accompanied by the concerned Executive Magistrates and representatives of CAPD and other concerned departments conducted surprise market checking in Nowgam and Lal Bazar markets of Srinagar on Wednesday.
The checking was aimed to ensure that good quality products are available to the consumers besides curbing black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities and to keep vigil on erring shopkeepers.
Erring shopkeepers and vendors were fined on spot by the executive magistrates and other concerned departments. Also, rotten vegetables and fruits were removed from the shelves.
Police said that such drives will be conducted on routine basis so that quality of commodities is ensured. It urged shopkeepers not to violate the rules besides display the rate lists at their respective shops.
