Shopian: A militant has been killed in an encounter that raged between government forces and militants in Pinjora area of Shopian district, sources said.

An official said that a joint team of forces including including 44 RR, CRPF and SOG Shopian launched a search operation after having specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

On intensifying search operation towards the suspected spot,  hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter, he said.

During exchange of one militant has been killed,  who identification is being ascertained while as operation is underway, he said

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure mobile internet services have been snapped in Shopian district.

Witnesses said that during clashes between forces and the youth one youth identified as Sajad Ahmad Parry from Baderhama Shopian has received bullet injury.

Medical superintendent district hospital Shopian GM Bhat  confirmed that they received one youth with bullet injury in critical condition who was referred to Srinagar in a critical condition.
