Explosive Device Along The Highway Destroyed By Bomb Disposal Squad
Rajouri: Government forces on Monday detected an explosive device in Rajouri district along the highway near Kallar chowk and later destroyed it by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yougal Manhas Today morning said that Road Opening Party (ROP) of an army patrol on NH-144A that connects Jammu with Rajouri and Poonch districts today morning detected the IED like device lying alongside highway near Kallar Chowk.
During close examination, a bottle filled with liquid material filled with some solid material was found, SSP said.
“An alert was sounded accordingly and for brief time the road was closed as a precautionary measure and Bomb Disposal Squad of police and army immediately reached the site who later destroyed the device without causing any damage,” he said.
He said that timely action by the jawans of army ROP averted what he termed as any untoward incident.
He said that investigation into the matter has been started with DySP Hqrs Govind Rattan personally conducting the probe. (GNS)
