Speeding vehicle crushes 45-year old to death, driver absconding
Srinagar: A 45-year old man died when a speeding Scorpio vehicle hit him near Dangerpora area of Awantipora on the national highway on Saturday.
The deceased identified as Abdul Majid Mir, son of Wali Mohammad, a resident of Dangerpora, Awantipora was hit by the vehicle at around 2 pm in the afternoon.
Mir sustained injuries in the accident, but succumbed later.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered by the police into the accident after the driver along with the Scorpio vehicle fled away from the spot.
Police said it was making efforts to track the Scorpio vehicle and the driver.
Meanwhile, body of the deceased was taken for completion of medico-legal formalities before handing it over to the family members.
