Srinagar: The parents of the students enrolled in ‘Burn Hall’ higher secondary school here are up in arms against the school management for preparing ‘flawed’ date sheet of major exams for the students.
A group of parents said the school has scheduled term-I exams of major subjects from June 10 but the school has not given a break of a single day between the exam.
As per the datasheet the minor exam for all classes will commence from May 29 and will culminate on June 04. “We have no problem with the schedule of minor exams. We don’t want any change in it,” the parents said.
They however, said the school has scheduled the major exams from June 10 to June 15 without any break in between the subjects. “It is completely injustice with the students. How can they prepare for these subjects without having a break of a single day,” the parents said.
The parents said the school management should review the datasheet and issue a revised date sheet for students.
“The present date sheet is completely against the interests of students. It should be changed,” the parents said.
The parents said they have already submitted their representation with the school management and have personally requested the principal to modify the date sheet, however there has been no response from the school authorities so far.
“We went there (school) and tried to convince the management but they are giving us lame excuses of having less number of working days,” said a parent. He said the students can’t be put under stress for having less number of working days in a year.
“How is that justified? We are not demanding a break of five to six days but just one day in which a student can revise what he has prepared during the month,” the parent said.
Meanwhile, a school functionary confirmed that parents have approached the school management with a request to modify the date sheet.
“But we are still looking into it. There are bleak chances of any modification into it. Still we will see after schools open on Monday,” a school functionary said.
