Srinagar:  Multiple funeral prayers have been held for the slain Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind commander Zakir Musa in Tral area of Pulwama district today.

“Twentieth funeral prayer is underway,” locals said.

They said that there is a mammoth gathering of people at his native village as people from various villages have come to participate in his last rites.

People from Bijbehara, Anantnang, Pulwama, Pahalgam, Tral, Kulgam and various other places are here, locals claimed.

Zakir was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Daddsara village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in the village after a joint team of army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off Dadsara village late this evening.

Zakir Rashid Bhat, his real name, joined militancy almost 6 years ago and was a close aide of former Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani.

He parted his ways with HM after the killing of Wani and criticised the Muzaffarabad based leadership of militant outfits.

He became a self styled chief of Alqaeda cell naming it as Ansar Gazwat ul Hind.
