Khalida Shah, Muzaffar congratulate National Conference

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference President, Begum Khalida Shah has congratulated the National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Akbar Lone and Retired Justice Husnain Masoodi for winning their respective Lok Sabha seats from Kashmir valley.
In a statement issued after the election result, Khalida said, “It is very important for all of us to come together for the sake of people of our state, particularly for protecting the future of our coming generations for which a lasting peace in the state is of a paramount importance”.
“We will have to put up a united face to ward off challenges thrown at our identity and the special status guaranteed to the people of all regions and religions of Jammu and Kashmir State by the People, the Parliament and the Constitution of our country,” she added.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP for a second term, the ANC Chief hoped that Modi and his team “will abandon the muscular approach adopted towards Kashmir and engage with us on all contentious issues including Article 35 A, Article 370 and a lasting solution to the vexed Kashmir issue that has consumed thousands of lives till date”.
She also expressed hope that with a “huge mandate from the people of India, Prime Minister Modi will show foresight and large heartedness to open dialogue for peace with Pakistan that could usher in a new hope and a bright tomorrow for the people of Indo-Pak, especially our future generations”.
“Let the walls of hatred be smashed,” Khalida said.
ANC Senior Vice President, Muzzafar Shah has also congratulated National Conference for the victory and expressed hope that Dr Abdullah, Husnain Masoodi and Akbar lone “will work together with us all in safeguarding Article 35 A and Article 370 be it in the Parliament or the Supreme Court of India”.
