Two girls killed, another injured as mudslide hits Sopore village
Sopore: Two girls died while another one was injured critically after the trio came under a mudslide at Hardi Shiva area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.
Reports said the girls were passing through the Reshipora Hardshiva area when suddenly mudslide hit them injuring all of them critically.
Soon after the incident some locals rushed to the spot and rescued the girls and evacuated them to Sub District hospital Sopore where doctors declared two of them as brought dead while they admitted another in a critical condition, locals said.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sopore Mohammad Sami confirmed that the two girls were brought dead while as another has been referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
The BMO identified the deceased girls as Shoki daughter of Mohammad Ashraf Wagay of Wadoora and Shahista Farooq Rather alias Insha daughter of Farooq Ahmed Rather of Hardshiva.
The injured has been identified as Sabreena, who happens to be the sister of Shoki one of the deceased girls.
SSP Sopore Javeed Iqbal said that police is investigating the incident.
Investigations are underway and further information would be shared accordingly, he added. (With GNS inputs)
