Srinagar: Facing tremendous anti incumbency wave former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday lost to National Conference’s new face Hasnain Masoodi for Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency.

PDP chief Mehbooba accepted defeat ‘with humility’.

“I’ve been fortunate to get the love & affection of my people. They have every right to express their anger for my failings. Accept their verdict with humility. Congratulations to winning candidates from NC. I’m grateful to my party workers & colleagues,” she tweeted.

She had to face an awkward situation when her brother Tasadduq Mufti did not turn up to caste vote that was seen as the final verdict over her rule on the state with the help of BJP.

Mufti in another tweet congratulated PM Narendra Modi on his ‘historic win’.

“Congratulations to Narendra Modi ji for a historic mandate. Today surely belongs to BJP and it’s allies. Time for Congress to get an Amit Shah,” she tweeted.
