Geelani pays tributes to Moulvi Farooq, Gani Lone on anniversaries
Asks people to make ‘Eidgah Chalo’ a success
Srinagar: Paying rich tributes to Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Moulana Mohammad Farooq on their respective anniversaries, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Monday said that both the leaders played a “glaring role for the ongoing movement for right to self-determination”.
Recalling his personal relation with both the leaders, the Hurriyat (G) chairman said that he always treated the two as his younger brothers.
“They had immense leadership qualities and had dedicated their lives for the sacred cause of freedom movement,” he said.
Geelani terming Moulana Farooq as a great Islamic scholar and orator and said Lone was a seasoned politician and a statesman.
Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman urged the people to observe a complete shutdown on May 21 Tuesday and make ‘Eidgah Chalo’ programme a success to commemorate the duo’s martyrdom.
He also expressed his hope that the pro-freedom people of Kashmir shall “remain vigilant to safeguard their exemplary sacrifices and shall not allow a sellout for petty political gains and shall rise to the occasion against oppressive and suppressive methods of Indian barbarism”.
