Militant, civilian killed in Shopian laid to rest

Shopian: Two militants and a civilian who were killed in a brief encounter at Handew area of Imamsahib belt in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday evening were laid to rest on Friday amid massive pro freedom sloganeering.
Eyewitnesses said that thousands of people participated in the funeral of prayers of slain Yawer Mushtaq at Thokerpora Nagbal of Shopian.
He was laid to rest after multiple rounds of funeral prayers amid massive pro freedom and pro militant sloganeering, they said.
Yawar according to locals had gone missing the same day when SPO Aadil Bashir of Zainapora Shopian decamped with 8 weapons from the residence of then MLA Watchi Aijaz Ahmad Mir from his residence in Srinagar.
Belonging to economically sound family, Yawar was a 2nd semester student at Degree college Shopian.
He is survived by two brothers and two sisters besides his parents.
Shakeel Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar resident of Tukroo Shopian according to locals who had joined militant ranks just three weeks back was also laid to rest amid massive pro freedom sloganeering.
Eyewitnesses said that he was laid to rest after multiple rounds of funeral prayers in presence of thousands of people.
Belonging to middle class family Shakeel was arrested several times by forces where he was subjected to torture which forced him join militant ranks, one of his relatives alleged.
By profession he was a driver before joining militant ranks and is survived by two brothers and one sister besides his parents.
The civilian Ishtiyak Ahmad, who was also killed during the encounter, is a resident of Handew. According to eyewitnesses he was also laid to rest after multiple rounds of funeral prayers amid massive pro militant and pro freedom slogans.
