Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) has strongly denounced the imposition of stringent curbs in downtown areas and barring people from offering Friday prayers by sealing the historic Jamia Masjid.
The separatist faction has termed it as “blatant interference in religious affairs”.
In a statement, Hurriyat (M) said that the grand mosque being the spiritual center, people from all over Kashmir would reach the Jamia Masjid early on Friday morning particularly during Ramadhan, recite Quran and later participate in the congregational Friday prayers to seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah.
“However, unfortunately the present state administration sealed it even on the sacred occasion of second Friday of holy month and it deserves all forms of condemnation,” it added.
The faction also paid tributes to the youth slain during protests near encounter sites in the valley and the elderly who was killed by goons in Bhaderwah.
The Hurriyat said there was “no let up in the bloodbath even in Ramzan”.
“While CASOs have been intensified, harassment, intimidation, and house to house searches of homes increased which stands as an eye opener for the world community and the international rights organizations as to what people of Kashmir are going through,” it said.
