Atul Dulloo visits Govt Dental College and Hospital Srinagar

Srinagar: Principal Secretary, Heath & Medical Education Department, Atul Dulloo, along with Joint Director Planning H&ME Madan Lal Thursday visited the Government Dental College and Hospital, Srinagar.
Dulloo chaired a review meeting there with regard to physical/financial components including physical achievements, position/availability of funds, staff strength, and status of ongoing projects among other issues.
Prof (Dr) Riyaz Farooq, Principal/Dean at the Dental College & Hospital on this occasion presented a power point presentation highlighting the achievements of the College and problems regarding the insufficient budgetary provisions/liabilities and gave an account of all patient care/academic activities being a Post Graduate institution.
Farooq also raised the issue of rational streamlining of the cadres of non-gazetted employees of this institution to effect better hierarchal management which, he hoped, will have an effect on the performance of the non-gazetted employees.
The Principal informed about various surgical/esthetic/prosthetic and other treatment modalities available at the institution.
Farooq said that 2,88,828 patients were attended / treated in the institution during the financial year 2018-19 including in patients.
The details of academic activities by faculty, PG scholars were also highlighted in the power point presentation. The status of the ongoing projects like new Central Library Block came up for discussion and the Principal Secretary was requested to kindly direct the concerned to handover the said Block as soon as possible. The concerned Executive Engineer (R&B) assured the Chair that the Library Block will be completed within 3 weeks.
The increase in intake of UG and PG also came up for discussion. The Principal Secretary was informed that total PG seats has been increased by 6 more seats for this institution by Union Health Ministry/Dental Council of India from current academic session. The Principal Secretary directed the college administration for submission of a proposal for 10% increase in UG/PG seats for economically backward classes under the Govt. of India programme meant for such sections of society.
The Principal Secretary was requested to kindly look into the funding so as to liquidate the liability created in the last financial year due to various reasons.
The Principal informed the college is contemplating to establish e-library in the campus for which more funds are solicited.
The Principal Secretary appreciated overall functioning of the institution and standard of education and patient care services provided in this institution as well as efforts of the faculty in maintaining such standards.
Some HODs raised the matter of High-End Dental Equipments & Dental Material to be made available on priority and demanded that regular supplies from JKMSCL be expedited.
The Principal Secretary also expressed satisfaction over the maintenance of hospital premises by sticking to the higher standards of sanitation and discipline which are beneficial for patient care.
He also interacted with the administrative staff of this institution including Medical Superintendent, Assistant Director (PD&M), Accounts Officer and all HODs including Department of O&MFS, Department of Prosthodontics, Department of Periodontics, Department of OMAR, Department of Oral Pathology, Department of Conservative & Endodontics, Department of Orthodontics, Department of Public Health Dentistry and Department of Pedodontics.
Superintending Engineer (R&B) and concerned Executive Engineers of R&B Department were also present in the meeting.
The Principal Secretary also assured all possible help from his side in resolving the issues raised by the college administration.
