Urges governor to withdraw the illegal dictate, appeals to maintain dignity of chair

Srinagar: Expressing solidarity with Probationary Officer aspirants of J&K Bank, AIP President Er. Rasheed has asked Governor Satpal Malik to “respect the dignity and sanctity of the chair he is holding”.
While joining peaceful protest with the aspirants outside JK Bank’s corporate office in Srinagar on Tuesday, Er. Rasheed demanded withdrawal of the direction passed by Governor to JK Bank authorities asking to have a uniform cut off in the merit list for appointing PO’s.
Speaking to media, Er. Rasheed said: “It is unconstitutional to change the norms in the middle of recruitment process. By compelling bank authorities to do so governor has not only violated Supreme Court ruling but has also shown his biased attitude towards aspirants of Kashmir region, which is disgusting and unacceptable. How can Guv Malik justify the act simply because BJP and few other forces wrote him a letter as if he was distributing some charity to Kashmiris?”
He said that those crying about Kashmir division getting a low cut off in the merit list should answer why they kept mum when in the recruitments of sub-inspectors, doctors, Judges and accounts officers similar procedure was adopted and Kashmiris despite having high merit could not make it in desired numbers because of the set norms.
He appealed governor to discharge his duties “without taking sides” and asked him to “uphold the dignity of the highest post” he is occupying. He also urged Governor to ensure justice and not compel JK Bank to deprive desired aspirants from their legal right by turning district cadre posts into state cadre posts in the midway of recruitment process.
