Pulwama: At least three more youth including a Doctor have gone missing from south Kashmir and are likely to have joined the militant ranks, sources said.
The missing youth have been identified as Mohammed Aslam son of Dr Mohammed Rafiq Dar resident of Redwani Bala in District Kulgam, Sajad Ahmad Allaie, son of Abdul Aziz Allaie resident of Naina Sangam in Anantnag district and Jahangir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammed Shafi Bhat resident of Wagum Chinar Bagh of Pulwama town.
Aslam according to his family is missing from beginning of this month and he has announced his joining as his photograph while carrying a gun has gone viral on social media.
Belonging to an economically well off family, Aslam according to his friends after passing his 12th examination pursued a degree in medical sciences and he had later worked voluntarily at District hospital Anantnag for more than two years.
Son of a veterinary surgeon, Aslam was never arrested before and was not inclined towards militancy however, the present situation in the area proved a provocation for him to join militant ranks, his friends said.
“People are fed up of daily arrests, thrashing and vandalism and everyone here is ready to pick up a gun,” they said.
As per photograph that went viral, Aslam has been given nom de guerre as Hyder Jihadi and according to locals Aslam has left behind three brothers and two sisters besides his parents.
The second youth, Sajad according to his family has been missing from the last 15 days and there are no whereabouts of him.
“After failing to trace him, we filed his missing report at the concerned police station,” they said.
Sajad according to locals was arrested once before and was in police custody for about one month.
Belonging to an economically sound family, Sajad has left behind two brothers and two sisters besides his parents.
Jahangir according to his family has been missing from last 20 days and there are no traces of him.
After passing his 10th examination, Jahangir was presently running a general store in his locality, they said.
He according to locals has left behind two brothers and one sister besides his parents.
