Banned Drugs recovered in huge quantity

Sopore: Police on Tuesday arrested a notorious drug peddler from apple town outskirts from whose possession it claimed to have recovered the “largest recovery” of contraband this year.
According to SHO Sopore Mohammad Azim Khan, a police team intercepted a bike JK05F-3674 during a checkpoint at Achabal crossing Sopore.
The bike, police said, was coming from Achabal Rafiabad and was heading towards main town Sopore.
“As soon as it was signaled to stop by police, two pillion riders managed to escape while as one person who was riding the bike was apprehended and the bike was impounded,” a police statement said.
It said that the bike rider had been identified as Mohammad Shafi Lone S/o Abdul Rashid Lone, a resident of Nadihal, Rafiabad.
The police also identified the two persons who managed to flee as Arshid Farooq Lone S/o Farooq Ahmad Lone of Saidpora, Rafiabad and Muzafar Ahmad Shah S/O Mohammad Sultan Shah, a resident of Adipora, Sopore.
Shah, police said, “is a notorious drug peddler known with the name of “Nund Shah” among various other addicts”.
The police further said that 3,000 capsules of the banned drug, Spasmoproxivan, “which is the largest recovery this year were made from their possession.
The trio were carrying the contraband “with the aim of distribution among youth of Sopore town”, police added.
While an FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard at Police Station Sopore, a man hunt has been launched to nab the absconding duo, police added.
