SRINAGAR: Several designated polling stations remained inaccessible for the poll conducting authorities in Shopian, reports said.

The inaccessible polling booths were shifted to relatively safer places in the district.

Polling station Avend – Rawalpora was shifted to government school Choudhary Gund outside Army camp as the authorities have failed to reach polling station till 7 am.

Similarly, polling booth Mohanpora was relocated to Trenz.

Massive clashes broke out between youth and government forces in Villages Gadapora early morning.

 

Reports said that most of the polling stations wore a deserted look in both the districts.

 

There are 18 candidates in fray in Anantnag. Mehbooba Mufti of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Congress and Justice (retired) Hasnain Masoodi of the National Conference are the main contestants.

The votes will be counted on May 23.
