Drug de-addiction week: Anti- Drug rally held in Sopore

Sopore: As part of the special drug de-addiction week being celebrated in the North Kashmir’s Baramulla, ‘Raahat’, a non-governmental organisation organised a road show against Drug Addiction at main town Sopore.
The special drug de-addiction week is being celebrated from April 29 to May 5.
The rally, which was organised in collaboration with civil society Sopore, started from Raahat office, General Bus stand to Mother & Child Hospital, Sopore.
Members of civil society Sopore, economic alliance and many students participated in the rally.
Shouting slogans and holding banners and placards the members in the participants in the rally marched through various markets of town.
On the occasion, Chairman ‘Raahat’, Aashiq Hussain Zaki said drug addiction was emerging as a very serious problem especially in Sopore town.
“Various observations have showed us that the problem of drug addiction is emerging as one of the great challenges for all of us. All the globally known drugs are consumed in Sopore town,” Zaki said.
After losing one generation from armed conflict even, Zaki said, “Now we are losing our new generation from Drug Addiction”.
Zaki further said that a comprehensive approach to deal with the grave issue was needed.
