Calls for strict action against profiteers, black marketers

Srinagar: In view of holy month of Ramzan, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan Saturday directed all Deputy Commissioners to start intense market checking across the valley on daily basis and take strict legal action against profiteers and black marketers.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir passed the directions at a review meeting to ensure proper arrangements for the month of Ramzan.
Deputy Director FCS&CA informed the meeting that adequate stock of essential commodities like rice, flour and sugar were available in the valley, besides additional quota of sugar is being provided to the consumers.
Khan asked all Deputy Commissioners to ensure the availability of essential commodities in the valley, besides ensuring display of rate list at shops in the respective districts.
The divisional commissioner also exhorted upon the SMC authorities to provide better sanitation arrangements, besides installation and repairing of street lights in the city and other important religious places.
He directed PDD and PHE officials to ensure the uninterrupted power and water supply during the holy month.
Khan also stressed for round the clock transport facilities to the devotees visiting Hazratbal and other religious places.
He also asked all Deputy Commissioners of Valley to prepare adequate route plan with traffic department to provide better transport facility to the people during these auspicious days.
The divisional commissioner asked the traffic department to publicise the route-plan through media.
Deputy Commissioners were asked by the divisional commissioner to constitute a joint control room at all DC offices in coordination with concerned departments and publicise their contact numbers through media.
He urged the officials of the Health Department to ensure better health care facilities at all hospitals.
Animal Husbandry Department was asked to deploy mobile vans for sale of chicken at various places in the valley and publicise the rates through media for the convenience of consumers.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed concerned departments to work with dedication and synergy so that people do not face any inconvenience during the holy month.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Secretary J&K Muslim Wakf Board, SSP Traffic, GM JKSRTC, Chief Engineers R&B, PHE, Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, Additional Commissioner SMC, Directors of Urban Local Bodies, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Deputy Director Health, Joint Director Fire & Emergency Services, SSP Traffic, Deputy Director FCS&CA, Joint Controller LMD.
Besides, senior officers of different departments were also present in the meeting while all the in Deputy Commissioners of the valley participated the meeting through video conferencing.
