NGO distributes Ramadan food parcels

Srinagar: Ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, ‘Orphans in Need’, a charitable organisation Friday distributed Iftar and Suhoor parcels among widows and orphans in Srinagar.
The parcels were distributed among 3,000 beneficiaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Park near Polo View.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSP Srinagar, Dr Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, SP East Srinagar, Dawood Ahmad and Director Floriculture, Abdul Hafiz Shah were present on the occasion.
The dignitaries commended the organisation and offered their support of the good work.
A handout by the organisation said it assisted “over 3,000 children within the valley, who benefit from Rs 1,500 per month to support their education”.
The organsiation last winter “actively distributed thousands of winter blankets throughout the valley,” it said.
Anis Mohammed Musa, Chairman of the organisation said, “I have been working tirelessly for many years to improve the lives of the poor and vulnerable. This hasn’t always been easy and over the years, I have faced many difficulties. But today I am very proud of my team and to see for myself that they are all working tirelessly round the clock without any agenda of their own solely to benefit the orphaned children and widows that desperately need our support”.
Anis also addressed the women and children gathered and emphasised on the mothers to send their children to school and to educate them so they can all have a brighter future.
Managing Director, Reyaz Sheikh said they will be distributing “thousands of food parcels to the widows and orphans along the LOC and in other remote areas throughout the Valley”.
Zubair Hussain Gul, President ‘Orphans in Need’, Kashmir thanked the dignitaries, beneficiaries and volunteers to make this distribution a success.
Gul also said a lot more needs to be done to eradicate poverty.
“And we at ‘Orphans in Need’ will all continue to serve the orphans and widows for the foreseeable future, for the pleasure of Allah”.
