Market checking conducted in Zachaldara

Kupwara: A market checking drive was conducted in Zachaldara town of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district to check the prices and quality of essential commodities available to consumers.
The market checking was carried out under the supervision of Tehsildar Zachaldara and Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Department Kupwara.
The team also included representatives from other line Departments such as Police, Food Safety and Food Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs.
The checking squad realised a fine of Rs 10,800 from several erring traders. Besides, a large quantity of polythene bags and rotten food items was seized and destroyed.
Director Horticulture visits hailstorm-affected areas in Kulgam
Kulgam: Director Horticulture Kashmir, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat Thursday visited orchards in different areas of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, after they were hit by hailstorm on Wednesday.
The team visited Gopalpora, Nihama, Yaroo Hazratbal, Bathipora and other villages. Chief Horticulture Officer Kulgam, Tehsildar Noorabad and expects from KVK Pombay also accompanied the Director.
During the visit, Bhat interacted with the affected farmers and ensured them of every possible technical assistance by the department. He also instructed the concerned field officers to take up the impact assessment assignment to give a clear picture of the damage.
The experts imparted awareness among the orchardists and farmers about the schedule of sprays to reduce the impact of the hailstorm.
Later, the Director inspected various nurseries in the district to take stock of their working.
