LS Polls: More than 60 boys arrested during nocturnal raids in Pulwama, Shopian
Pulwama: Nocturnal raids and arrests continued for third consecutive day in Pulwama and Shopian districts taking the number of the detained youth to near 100.
The twin districts will go to polls on May 6.
A news gathering agency KNO reported that at least thirty youth were detained during nocturnal raids in Tahab locality of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District.
Some of the arrested youth have been identified as Ashiq Ganie, Ashiq Ahmed Sheikh, Nisar Sheikh, Naseer Wani, Javid Rather, Javed Mushtaq, Asif Dar, Aadil Dar, Naseer Wani, Abid Dar, Javid Baba, Khurshid Liyakat, Hilal Ahmed Sheikh and Rouf Ahmed Dar.’
In Chewa Kalan area of Newa Pulwama, some 15 youth have been arrested, while arrests were also made in Singhu Narbal area of Kakpora.
In Shopian’s Dk Pora 12 youth have been arrested and in Vehil area of Shopian, around 6 youth have been picked up.
A police official was quoted by the KNO confirming the arrests were related to LS Polls in the twin districts.
He however did not provide any specific numbers.
Almost 63 boys were arrested in the nocturnal raids during intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
The total number of arrested boys would be around 100-150, a police source said.
