9th annual Urs of Ahad Bab observed in Sopore

Sopore: The 9th urs of famous Sufi saint of North Kashmir’s Sopore area, Ahad Bab was observed with fervor on Tuesday at his residence in Noor Bagh village.
Thousands of devotees of the saint including women and children thronged his home, paid obeisance and offered special prayers at the shrine set up there.
On the occasion, recitations of verses of the Holy Qur’an were held followed by special prayers.
“I come here every year as I am a disciple of Ahad Bab. I have great faith in his shrine and I was personally attached with the great saint,” said Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Sopore.
Ahad Bab’s son said, “We have devotees coming from not only various parts of Kashmir but also from outside the state.”
Ahad Bab was born on June 30, 1930 at Mohalla Ashpeer in the Apple town of Sopore in district Baramulla.
He passed away at the age of 80 on July 26, 2010 after a brief illness. His family and followers observe his Urs on 13th day of Shaban every year.
Another devotee of Ahad Bab, Tariq Ahmad, a resident of Banihal, said that he had a great faith in him and would always remain attached with the saint.
“His death was a great loss for his followers and to the whole Kashmir valley,” Tariq said.
“I have been a witness to many miracles of Ahad Bab, where so many patients got rid of deadly diseases,” he added.
The devotees appreciated the arrangements put in place by the family of Ahad Bab.
