JKPCC Chief hits out at state govt for ‘security lapses’ on election day
Hails people for participating in electoral process
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G A Mir has castigated the governor led state administration for allegedly failing to ensure “foolproof security arrangements” to him on the Election Day in Kulgam.
The district went to polls on Monday in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on the Anantnag parliamentary seat.
Mir said that the assurances made by ECI in this direction “were not visible on the ground” and urged upon the ECI to take strong note of the “security lapses during polling” in the district.
Mir castigated the state administration over allegedly failing to ensure “adequate security on this crucial day in the district”.
The ECI’s assurances, he said, “were not seen visible on the ground” describing it as a “matter serious concern given the prevailing situation in South Kashmir”.
He urged the ECI to take “strong note of security lapses witnessed during polling at many places in the district”.
Meanwhile, Mir expressed his gratitude to the people o Kulgam for voting in the second phase.
He hailed the people “in their endeavor to strengthen the democratic system barring some minor incidents of violence”.
