JeM module busted in Awantipora: Police

Pulwama: Police Monday arrested four persons, who it said, were in touch with the proscribed militant outfit JeM and were involved in “various militant activities” in the area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police handout said that one Murtaza of Amlar Tral was arrested “on specific input and 1 Chinese Pistol with 2 magazines and 8 Pistol rounds were recovered from his possession”.
Murtaza along with another person Aqib, police said, “had come in contact with JeM militants operating in Tral and Awantipora area headed by one Khalid Bhai, a non-local militant”.
“Police alleged that the duo had been “involved in arranging transport and logistics” for the proscribed militant group.
The group, police said, was “involved in firing upon civilian Naseer Ahmad of Nowpora Tral and injuring him critically”.
The duo, police said, arranged explosive and other allied material for preparing and planting IED and planted IED on Tral- Lariyal road in March, 2019 with intention to trigger the IED on security forces vehicle on the direction of the JeM Commander Khalid Bhai and Umar Bhai”.
The prepared IED, as per police, was kept at Government School Amlar, Nowpora near Aqib’s house for two days before planting it”. “However, due to the lightening and heavy rains during the intervening night of 2nd of March, 2019, the IED went off of its own due to short circuit of trigger mechanism,” the police statement added.
Murtaza along with his associate, is also alleged to have lobbed a grenade on the residence of Dy SP Operations Awantiproa on 3rd of March,2019.
The grenade, as per police, was provided to them “by some group of JeM militants headed by Khalid Bhai and Umar Bhai”.
Murtaza and Aqib, police said, “have been involved in motivating youth to join terror organizations”.
“They succeeded in motivating two youth, one from Zuvistan Tral and another from Nigeenpora Tral to join JeM militant organization in April this month”.
Police said that another person, Irfan-ul-Haq of Gadli Khal Awantipora had also been in contact with JeM, from which he “obtained grenades” as per the police.
“He lobbed grenade on CRPF Camp Awantipora and has been operating various Whatsapp groups and transferring and sharing incriminating material on the said Whatsapp groups with some outside country numbers also,” the police statement added.
