Srinagar: Four militants associated with  Jaish-e-Muhamad outfit have been arrested as Police on Monday claimed to have busted militant module involved in grenade throwing incidents and planting IEDs.

“They were involved in various militant activities in Tral and Awantipora area,” Police said.

“1 Chinese Pistol with 02 Magazines and 08 Pistol rounds were recovered from Murtaza of Amlar Tral.

He along with another detainee Aqib were in contact with JeM militants operating in Tral, Awantipora area headed by one Khalid Bhai.

” The  duo has been involved in arranging transport and logistics for the said group of JeM militants, who are involved in firing upon civilian Naseer Ahmad of Nowpora Tral and injuring him critically. The duo on the direction of the JeM Commander Khalid Bhai & Umar Bhai(both foreign militants) arranged explosive and other allied material for preparing and planting IED & planted IED on Tral- Lariyal road in March,2019 with intention to trigger the IED on security forces vehicle,” Police said.

The prepared IED was kept at Govt School Amlar Nowpora near Aqib’s house for two days before planting it.

However, due to the lightening and heavy rains during the intervening night of 2nd of March,2019, the IED went off of its own due to short circuit of trigger mechanism.

 

“Irfan-ul-Haq of Gadli Khal Awantipora has also been in contact with same JeM group and obtained grenades from the same group. He lobbed grenade on CRPF Camp Awantipora and has been operating various Whatsapp groups and transferring, sharing incriminating material on the said Whatsapp groups with some outside country numbers also,” Police said.
