DEO Shopian reviews election preparedness
SHOPIAN: District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed Saturday convened a meeting of all district officers and departments to re-sensitize them of their duties and different kinds of plans drawn up for smooth and successful conduct of elections in the district.
Specific roles, duties and responsibilities of Assistant Returning Officers (ARO), Presiding Officers, Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates involved in the elections were highlighted during the meeting.
The DEO emphasized upon the officers to ensure that no room is left for laxity or lapses while delivering their election duties. He stressed to ensure that all polling stations have facilities like electricity, drinking water, bathrooms, toilet facilities and road connectivity.
Details of communication and transportation plans drawn up as part of the election process were also highlighted during the meeting. The officers were also asked to ensure strict adherence to all aspects of all the plans and complete coordination amongst themselves.
DEO directed AROs to personally visit all the polling stations and take stock of the facilities being provided there.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Deputy District Election Officer, Assistant Returning Officers, Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates and all other concerned officers / officials were present.
