Drug peddler arrested in Pulwama, contraband seized

Pulwama: Pulwama police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler from whose possession they said a huge quantity of contraband was recovered.
The person identified as Amir Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Batpora Naina Pulwama, was arrested for the drug supply offences by a police party from Police Station Litter.
He has been taken to Police Station Litter where he remains in custody.
Police officials said that they had seized “120 Kilograms of Poppy Straw” from the possession of the arrested person.
“Case FIR No 15/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in Police Station Litter and investigation has been taken up,” they said.
A police statement asked community members “to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law”.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” it added.
