Doctors in Kupwara protest against termination of colleague over alleged negligence

Srinagar: Terming the government order baseless and unacceptable and demanding revocation of termination order of their colleague, doctors association Kupwara on Thursday held a protest demonstration within Sub District Hospital Kupwara.

The members of the association assembled at SDH Kupwara and raised slogans in favour of the doctor and against DC, and CMO Kupwara for terminating Dr Bilal Ahmad without conducting thorough injuring into the killing of a baby delivered in an ambulance on way to Kupwara health centre.

Talking to reporters, chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Doctors Coordination Committee Dr Mohammad Yousuf Tak Said that the termination order is baseless. “No proper inquiry has been conducted prior to which authorities have issued termination order in favour of Dr Bilal Ahmad deputed at SDH Kalaroose.”

He said that the termination order should be revoked at the earliest, adding that the said doctor was on night duty and successfully conducted six deliveries and also attended the patient properly who alleged him of negligence and cause of death to infant baby.

Dr Mohammad Yousaf a consultant Gynecologist, who was part of enquiry team said that, on 14th April “I was asked to attend the office of CMO and were asked to file a report into the incident within two days. In order to pacify the swelling crowd we filed a preliminary  report of the incident, we’re unaware about the decision of authorities.”

He said that in preliminary report “we mentioned there was some issue about providing ambulance to the patient while as patient was attended and treated upon properly”.
