Srinagar: Reacting to the ban imposed on civilian traffic on highway twice in a week, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said there was no martial law in the State, thus the party is opposing the move.
“We live in a democratic country and there is no martial law in the State, therefore we believe the decision taken is a wrong move and PDP is strongly opposing it,” she said while talking to reporters in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Earlier on Wednesday, the government had announced that there shall be no movement of civilian traffic on the highway from Udhampur in Jammu till Baramulla in north Kashmir for two days every week to facilitate movement of forces for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Asked about Sadr-e-Riyasat remarks of NC vice president Omar Abdullah, she said that he always resort to such kind of statements ahead of the elections.
“When Omar had two third majority and he was the part of BJP government but he couldn’t do so. He always resorts to such kind of statements during elections,” he said.
“We believe that we should first focus on what we have including our flag, Article 370, state subject law and others after that we should talk about other things,” she added.
