Gunmen shoot former PDP activist in Kulgam

Srinagar: A former PDP activist and a Panch was injured after shot at by suspected militants at Shalipora village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday evening.
Reports said that the masked gunmen believed to be militants barged inside the house of Abdul Majeed Dar son-in-law of Ghulam Ahmad Malla and fired upon him.
The incident left Abdul Majeed injured critically.
According to officials, Majeed is presently a panch who contested the Panchayat election as an independent candidate after quitting from the PDP.
A police officer confirmed the incident and said that Majeed was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors referred him to SMHS hospital Srinagar in a critical condition.
The officer said that Majeed has received a bullet wound in his abdomen.
Soon after the incident a joint team of army and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area to nab the assailants. (GNS)
