NGO conducts plantation drive

Srinagar: Ehsaas International in association with Rahim Greens conducted plantation drive in various Degree college, Higher Secondary’s, school government/private with a theme “Save the Trees, Save the Earth. We are the guardians of nature’s birth”.
The program was kick started on 21th of March 2019 to 2nd April 2019. The program concluded on Tuesday in Government Degree College SumbalBandipora, a statement issued by the NGO said.
A seminar was conducted in the DGC Sumbal wherein large number of student, faculty and other staff members participated.
While delivering a lecture, Dr. (Prof.) M S Khan, Principal GDC urged students to take active part in plantation drive.
He also talked about the importance of plantation and explained how carbon dioxide is inhaled by trees and also absorbs various harmful gases including sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide and filters harmful pollutants from the atmosphere thereby providing us fresher and cleaner air to breath.
Abdul Hamid Bhat, Chairman Rahim Greens renowned philanthropist also shared his experience how he is trying to make awareness and protection for the environment, the statement added.
He said that ‘Rahim Greens’ has planted as many as 1,80,000 trees, mostly pine, in different parts of the Kashmir valley since the last few year.
The seminar was followed by plantation drive in the college premises and adjoining areas.
