Thousands attend funeral of militant killed in Sopore
Sopore: Thousands of people on Saturday late evening attended the funeral prayers of slain Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant in north Kashmir’s Sopore village.
Two militants were killed at Warpora area of Sopore on Saturday in a three day long gunfight with Government forces, one among them was identified as Tahir Ahmad war alias TahirMoulvi, a resident of WarporaSopore.
DIG North Kashmir range SuliemanChoudary earlier said that the bodies of both the militants were recovered from the encounter site on Saturday afternoon and one of them has identified as Tahir Ahmad War alias TahirMolvi of Warpora.
Reports said thousands of people assembled in the native village of the slain to attend his funeral prayers.
Eye-witnesses said that a large number of mourners including women shouting pro-freedom, pro-Islam and anti-India slogans carried the body of Tahir to martyrs graveyard for burial.
While as his non local associate killed during the encounter was buried at SheeriBaramulla.
Meanwhile, Sopore town of Baramulla district observed a complete shutdown on Sunday to mourn the killing of a local militant.
Reports said that all the shops and business establishments are shut while as thin movement of traffic is witnessed on the roads in Sopore and its adjoining areas. However, forces were deployed at many places of town since Sunday morning to prevent any untoward incident.
Local militant Tahir Ahmad war @TahirMolvi son of Abdul Malik of Warporasopore was killed along with a non local associate in a 45 hour long gunfight with the government forces in Warpora area of Sopore on Saturday.
